Description

The project Voir la Mer saw the light in 2019 and has been ongoing since then. This project was part of a multidisciplinary approach funded by the program Odyssé Saint Laurent and Valorisation of the Réseau Québec Maritime. The project also the result of the contribution of the MCCQ. The scientific partnership has involved the Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR), the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Développement en Cartographie des Océans (CIDCO), the Centre de développement et de recherche en intelligence numérique (CDRIN), Super-Splendide, and MHUARI.

From 2019 to 2021, a team of archaeologists and professional divers worked on the Scotsman shipwreck to document its preservation state. The photos and videos were used for a 3D reconstitution of the ship which was then used in a public activity at the Musée Maritime du Québec J.E Bernier in 2023.
