Description

Since 2017, MHUARI is working with the Fort Saint-Jean Museum to document the submerged archaeological sites in the Richelieu river in relation with the history of the fort. This project provided the opportunity to revisit a known site and to discover two additional sites.

In 2023, a first excavation is to be led on the shipwreck site to learn more about its datation and its potential historical affiliation with the 1775 and 1812 events at the fort Saint-Jean.
